Dear Member If you are not an illustrator, you do not need to read any further.  But if you
are-wow, have we got something for you.

At this summer’s SCBWI conference, we are launching the Illustrator’s Committee
Mentorship Program.  Anyone who has entered a portfolio in the Portfolio
Showcase is eligible.  Four members of the SCBWI Board Illustrator Committee, Art
Director Cecilia Yung, illustrator David Diaz, illustrator Pat Cummings, and
illustrator Priscilla  Burris will serve as a program jury and select four
winners.  The winners will receive individual half hour meetings with each
member of the committee, to privately go over their work and portfolios.  In
addition, they will be invited to a working lunch on Monday, August 10, to meet
with the committee and other winners and create career development strategies.

The ultimate goal of the Mentorship Program is to develop and nurture
publishable illustrators.

So, if you haven’t already entered your portfolio in the Saturday Showcase, do
so now to qualify for this one-of-a-kind, life-altering opportunity.

Cordially,

Sara Rutenberg
SCBWI Conference

My Favorites:

I love the children's movies Wizard of Oz and the Neverending Story. Both movies make me feel the lesson that hope is alive and well. After seeing UP this past week, it just might have a chance at being added to this list.

I love the cool colors of blues and purples. Those colors are peaceful for me.

I love The Velveteen Rabbit. Even as an adult, I still feel the urge to cry when he becomes real. I know, silly, but a good book can make me laugh and cry as it takes me on a magical journey.
